The National Institute of Psychiatry Ramón de la Fuente Muñiz presented Infopsicosis.org as a free tool to strengthen the timely identification of symptoms. With the aim of strengthening the timely identification and early care of psychosis, the National Institute of Psychiatry Ramón de la Fuente Muñiz (INPRFM) made the digital platform Infopsicosis.org available to the public. This is a free resource aimed at improving mental health literacy and facilitating access to reliable information.
A digital strategy based on prevention and mental health literacy. The platform was developed as part of a research project started in 2022, financed by the National Strategic Programs of the Secretariat of Sciences, Humanities, Technology, and Innovation (Secihti), with the objective of designing tools focused on prevention and community education in mental health. This approach seeks to intervene before the appearance of severe clinical pictures, promoting knowledge as a key element for timely care.
Early recognition: a determining factor in the evolution of psychosis. Medical sciences researcher Tecelli Domínguez Martínez explained that the main purpose of the platform is to facilitate the early identification of psychosis symptoms, as well as to differentiate those that represent a high risk. She pointed out that having this information allows people to recognize initial signs and seek professional attention before the disease develops fully. In this sense, she highlighted that access to clear information helps reduce stigma and favors early intervention, fundamental elements for improving the clinical prognosis.
Scientific content developed by a multidisciplinary team. The materials available on Infopsicosis.org were created by specialists in medical sciences, psychology, and psychiatry, with experience in the study and treatment of psychotic disorders. This multidisciplinary approach allows for offering structured, evidence-based content, aimed at both the general population and health professionals.
Psychosis: a disorder that affects multiple dimensions of life. According to information disseminated by the INPRFM, psychosis is characterized by a loss of contact with reality, which can affect perception, thinking, communication, emotions, and behavior. It was also highlighted that mental health problems can occur in any person, regardless of their age, sex, socioeconomic level, or cultural context, and have a direct impact on quality of life.
Early intervention from the first level of care. The specialist emphasized that the platform is also aimed at identifying people who have not yet had a complete psychotic episode but do have initial or mild symptoms, with the goal that they can receive care from the first level of the health system. She stressed that early detection by medical personnel is key to preventing the progression of the disease and improving clinical outcomes.
Open access to strengthen mental health care. The National Institute of Psychiatry Ramón de la Fuente Muñiz invited the population to visit the Infopsicosis.org website, where accessible, free, and scientifically validated content is available. This initiative is positioned as a strategic tool to promote timely detection, reduce stigma, and strengthen the culture of mental health care in Mexico.
